Last week my cat Milo started coughing a bit. At first I thought it may be hairballs and started giving him the hairball formula and brushed him daily. After a few days he was still coughing and when I listened to his chest I could hear congestion. I immediately brought him to the vet who confirmed he had an upper respiratory infection. He gave me 125mg of Clavamox to be given 2x a day. This was Monday. Thursday came and he was still coughing so much. I called the vet again and he told me to wait a few more days for the medication to take effect. If there was no change he would change to medication to something else.

Here it is Saturday night. I just got home from work and gave Milo his meds. I feel so bad because every time I give him the pill he ends up having another coughing attack and the congestion sounds so tight. He's eating and drinking normally and otherwise the same ole' Milo.

Does anyone have any opinions for me? Is there anything else I can do? Can I put him in the bathroom with the hot water running to produce steam..will this help at all or is that just for children?
