I came home today and the floor to ceiling cat tree was leaning against the top of my front windows...it must have come loose. Im glad it did'nt fall on any of the cats or through the window but now Im afraid to put it back up because something seems to be wrong with the tension rod. I thought I remembered someone saying you could buy a replacement tention rod...does anyone know where I can purchase one?
I could kick myself because I just threw the old cat tree out last week and I could have probably taken the tension rod from that one...too late now.

we put a block of wood between the tension rod and the ceiling for our cat tree (see photo). The block of wood is wrapped in a sheet of sandpaper so the wood doesn't slip around. It has stood there for over a year and been fine - ceiling under the sandpaper isn't so fine...well actually it is being finely sanded by the sandpaper

Lol Nern. Mine too! Handsome took too many flying monkey leaps onto it and it finally just went down on Wednesday night. I'm just glad he didn't get hurt. He just so strong and he lunges at it as if he's some kind of monkey sumo wrestler. That was the one from walmart, but the only one they carried wasn't as stable as the other one posted here a while back. Mine had a useless plastic block to fasten to the ceiling. I should have used a piece of wood. Anyway, because monkey boy is so rough with it and it's pretty much destroyed I'm going to get him a good strong one.

MaryNH, I really like your cat tree. It's very cool.

When I first put mine up, it wasn't very sturdy. I went somewhere and came home and they had knocked it over. So I called a friend to help and we attached the little black piece to the ceiling with some screws. It still wobbles but b/c the black thing is screwed to the ceiling it wont fall over. My cats run and jump on it too. And they have wars where one hangs like King Kong and smacks at the one on the platform.

As a side not I have noticed that they have stopped scratching the coffee table as much since I got the cat tree. I think they like scratching it more.

Thanks for the suggestions.
My previous tree (also from Walmart) was a bit un-sturdy but I was able to stick a roll of pennies inside and that made it really tight but this one has a smaller opening and a roll of pennies would'nt fit. I bought 2 of the same trees this time and the other one is nice and sturdy and I did'nt even have to fuss with it at all. I may try the sandpaper trick or maybe even fasten it to the ceiling some how. For now I have it laying on its side in my living room and the cats are still using it. LOL.

We anchored ours to the window sill with an "L" bracket, I've taken a couple of photos:

If the tree goes, it takes the window sill with it! So far it's been very sturdy.
