Hi - Has anyone used a cat harness before? My male cat, Milo, is being super duper aggressive towards my boyfriend's two female cats. Granted, we didn't expect them to be best friends but it's not just hissing and growling. Last night, Milo physically pushed open a closed bedroom door and attacked one of the girls! So my boyfriend is thinking of getting Milo a kitty harness to at least get the 3 of them used to the sight of each other.

Any suggestions? Ideas? I'm afraid the harness around Milo might just upset him even more and agitate him. But I do agree that we need to slowly keep trying to get them used to each other. At this point, it really only seems to be Milo doing the attacking and the girls are just hissing, but not provoking him.

Thanks!!

One more thing, Milo is a big boy (~12-13 lbs) and I don't have much faith in myself to be able to hold/restrain him if we try to let them be in the same room for a little bit so that's why we are thinking of using a harness.

Thanks - any advice is appreciated!

My one cat is harness trained. I trained her as a kitten. She didn't mind because she was so young. We let her outside on the harness and take her to the vet like that.

However, we tried to train our adult cats to get used to one and the outcome wasn't so good. They got very stressed and wouldn't move when we put the harness on them. If they did walk, they would very slumped and crouched.

You might have a difficult time training an adult cat to deal well with a harness. I think it could be a good idea (if your cat was good with wearing the harness). It wouldn't hurt to buy one and see how your cat reacts (they're not very expensive). But, I wouldn't bank on it working too well.

I'm sure it will take time for the cats to adjust to each other. It is a good idea to take your time. Hopefully they'll come around. Good luck.

Blanche will wear a harness and it works really well.

I use it whenever she is in her carrier and carry and extenable leash in case for any reason I have to take her out of the carrier. In Case she has an accident in the carrier or gets sick. This is especially important since I will take her to my mom's which is 4hours away.(Although she has only had 2 accidents in over 20 trips) The Harness also gives the vet something to hold onto.

She had no problems with the harness at all. She walked a little funny the first time, but not since. I adopted her when she was already an adult so for all I know they had her on one all the time.
