I just made an album in picturetrails of some of my kitties. I am not sure how to post it, other than to paste the weblink. Let me know if it works. My username is Raven12.

Hello. That's a good looking bunch you have. Camden is really cool looking. What kind of a cat is he/she?

Thank you for the compliments. Chessmind, Camden is a ruddy Abyssinian. Looks like a miniature mountain lion (lol). We almost lost him when we moved from California to Missouri. When I say lost, I mean he almost died. He was so stressed out from the move, he literally pulled his fur and skin off from his side. His body temperature got really low and the vet only gave him 10 percent chance of living thru the night.

Well, needless to say, Camden showed him :-) He is 100 percent better and almost all of his fur is back! I was so happy.

The move didn't seem to affect any of my other cats.

I've got 4 more cats I need to take pictures of and post. Gingers 3 other syblings and my male persian, Razor.

Hello. Well, I'm glad Camden made it. He must have been awefully stressed to be that sick. Not to mention how stressed you must have been to see him that sick. Are these types of cats more prone to stress related disorders? He really is a neat looking cat. Very unusual.

No, abyssinians aren't what I would call nervous cats. In fact, they have been noted as having more of a *dog like* personality. What I mean is that when I pick Camden up, he actually puts his arms around my neck and licks my face, just like a little dog would. They are very loving and sweet. Loves to be held and petted.

But when I had to get him in the carrier for the move, he just freaked out! Probably because we had people over helping us move and he wasn't familiar with them. I don't know, but I had to pry him off the mattress and then he bit the palm of my hand and the underside of my forearm.

That was the worst pain I have ever felt. I have 10 tropical birds ranging from a macaw to 5 big cockatoos and a few parrots and have been bitten by them, but this was sooo much worse. And the birds can bite hard! (LOL)

But anyway, we both survived the move. And he is just as sweet as ever now and I don't hold it against him. I still have the scar on my hand though :-)

I don't know, I guess he was just really stressed. It was a very long trip. We drove from California to Missouri.

Lol. He gives you hugs. That's cute. I understand now how he got all stressed out; you drove there. If I had driven from California to Missouri with my cat Handsome, I think he would have been bald by the time he reached Missouri. He isn't a big fan of car rides. I wonder if anyone's cat actually likes going for a drive?

Now, did you drive with all of your animal family to Missouri (including the birds)? If you did that must have been one heck of a car trip.

Yes, we drove with ALL of our animal family.

If this wasn't a meant to be move, I don't know what was. First, our place needed a lot of repairs, and we didn't think we would be able to sell the place, for the money we needed to move with.

But, as it turned out, the people that bought the place, just sold a huge warehouse in Sonoma county and needed to buy up land for tax purposes. So, the guy was into construction, and thought our place would be perfect for a family member that needed a place to stay.

But! Not only that, he needed to make a trip back to Arkansas to pick up some furniture that he had. He just sold a house of his own down that way. Anyway, he had a trailer, the type that holds racing cars. It had fluoresent lighting, and air conditiong!!! He offered to move all of our animals for us. So, we took him up on it! He hauled all of the cats, and all of the birds, in their cages, in the trailer. He had a Dodge Ram, 3500 dooley (not sure of that spelling) and our two wolf hybrid dogs road in the back of the pickup. And my husband and I, took our old cocker spaniel and american eskimo dog in our jeep. And we headed to the midwest.

Boy, what a trip that was. But everyone survived. The only stressed out animal was Camden.

I won't say that the other cats enjoyed the experience, but they didn't have any reactions to it.

Since we have been back here, we have adopted two more dogs :-o! One pitbull mix, who by the way, is extremely friendly and sweet. And the other, a black lab/irish setter mix. He's basically all black, but has the texture of fur and the type of ears an irish setter has.

I hope we never have to move again (LOL) It was an experience I don't care to do any time soon again.
