hello, fellow cat ppl.

i have a question here. as the title clearsly says, i live in a very small place. very very small place. to be exact, it's about the normal size room with everything like kitchen plus very small closet and bathroom.

lukcy (my cat) is very well adjusted here since i've been living in this place about 2 years. but i always feel sorry for him. he used to have plenty of place to run/sprint aournd when i lived in texas. but now i can't afford those kinda luxury since i'm tight on budget n since i live in downtown san francisco.

he's not getting fat or anything like that. but i'd like to some kinda simple solution for his bordom (i bet he's bored since most of the day i'm at the school or work). he's got tons of toys, but he doesn't realy play with them unless i play with it with him (such a complicated cat, i guess).

somewhere sometime, i saw this cat play house u can hang on the door. do u guys think this would ease a bit of lucky's bordom? do u guys think this will be worth of me saving some money to buy it???

Welcome to the Board. Is there any possibility of getting another cat, ie. a kitten? They will keep each other company. I've had mixed results with the cat trees, my kitten loves it but the older girl just uses it as another place to sleep.

Yes, I found when I got my cat Pixie a kitten, she took to it quite well. The first two weeks will be hell, but once they both adjust, they'll be more than happy to keep each other company. Pixie has someone to play with, and they make do very well.

I live in a studio apartment too, it's quite small by human standards, but cats do amazingly well in cramped spaces. You have oto also realise that they are very "mini creatures".... probably one eighth our size. So no worries luckky star, give your cats a few toys and a small scratching post, and all should be okay.

You may already have one of these but I wanted to suggest a play toy that seems to be the favorite of my house. I recently moved in with my sister who has 3 adult male cats. I got a kitten and I found that the adult male cats, whom my sister says had grown out of they play stage, started playing with it. It's a circle with a ball around the outside that doesn't come out. On the inside of the circle is a cardboard scratching area that I add catnip to. My sister was amazed when she saw her cats playing with it. Also, on recent posts many have been talking about a floor to ceiling cat tree that you can purchase at Walmart for $30.00. If your cat likes to climb you may want to try this too. I just bought one last week and the kitten loves it. I'll put all her toys on each of the three levels before I leave for work. When I come home they are all over the room.

well, i was seriously thinking about adopting a kitty for lucky. lucky used to have a big brother in texas, but i could not come to california with him since the place i was living (before this) would not allow more than one cat (sorry sista... i had to leave u behind).

as much as i'd like to adopt a kitty, i can't for now. for now, i'm not really sure i'm going back to my home country when i finish my study (all those crazy viza stuff), n if i'm going back, i'm not really sure that i can't afford the costs of bringing them altogether along with those horrible costum check ups.

anyway, about the toys u guys talked about, the thing is i already had them. n lucky won't play with those until i play with him together.

should i get one of those cat tree stuff?? then again... where am i gonna put those in this 150 sq. feet place..??
