hello, board

i'd like to apologise for my last post! i didn't mean to upset the board or anything like that.

i know this would sound like a lame excuse, but at least i think i owe this board some explanation about my excitement n the photo. i was so excited that i was able to take that picture becuz it is so hard to take one when lucky is in action (he is such an attention seeker! =P). the stuff he's licking in that picture was actually water ontop of solid block of the ice of vodka/water mixture. i know this becuz lucky even doesn't like the smell of alchohol just like any other animals naturally do, n also i just poured the water there right before lucky started drinking. but it was my fault that i let him drank that stuff even thou i was so sure it was water.

once again, i'm really sorry if i caused any trouble here. as much as i want to hang around here for a long time, i don't want anybody to turn their backs to me. i learned my lesson from this incident n i think i deserve it.

Hello. I wouldn't worry about it. I can't speak for everyone on the board, but I would guess that %99 of us are not upset with you. Honestly, I think the second reply to your post would have been better if they had just politely mentioned that alcohol is dangerous to animals. When I read your post I just figured you didn't know this. That's why we are here to help: to inform each other about what is okay for a cat and what is not.

Sometimes people get upset about certain posts and that's when you'll see things get out of control here. There are certain things that seem to really fire people up on this board, such as declawing, animal abuse, IAMS pet food, indoor/outdoor debate, and possibly even alcohol and cats.

There where a few people that actually got banned from this site because their replies just got way out of hand in a declawing post. So, don't think you're the only one who has gotten a sour reply.

A while back I was pretty fired up about an animal abuse post. The truth is though, getting all upset about a post is not always the best route to go. Now I just try to be informative and helpful.

Anyway, I'm sorry you got one not so great reply to your post. Even Nern didn't think you meant any harm. I hope you continue to post here. Enjoy your day/evening.

Chessmind,

Perhaps you should speak for yourself and not for everyone on the board. If you would like to single me out and discredit my post and claim i was being flat out rude and unsubstantiated, you can go ahead and use my nick and be blunt about it. Not once in that post did I insult luckystar or call her names. If there was anything that was condemned, it was her actions.

I'm not surprised if there would have been more replies, but the administrators at Auspet chose to lock the thread and leave my post on to illustriate to people the dangers and the seriousness of toxic substances like alcohol to cats.

Please respect the fact that not everyone is tolerant of animal abuse. Animal abuse not only falls under the category of beating animals or not feeding them or doing something directly mean towards them. Neglect to stop an animal from harming itself is also abuse. And you cannot label it as "ignorance", not knowing these things, having a cat entails responsibilities.

If i were to have left traces of alcohol lying around and my cat drank it, I would have been mortified, removed the cat from the scene and swear never to do it again. It was the attitude luckystar displayed - humour towards the cat's persistence at drinking from things out of the sink, (and God knows where else) some of which can kill cats, that angered me. As a cat lover, I do not apologise for feeling that way one bit.

I do not think that I would have been that outraged if she didn't go so far as to take pictures and find it *funny* how this cat is used to drinking dishwater on a regular basis. Any one out there with a cat or more knows for a fact that you have to be extra careful about what the cat drinks and eats, and not leave stuff lying around and find it funny the next day that the cat was a thief.

Chessmind, you're quite a veteran poster here. I really expected you of all people to have the sensibility to know why nern and Auspet are leaving my post on - not to glorify luckystar but to show other people with pets the horrors of allowing pets to drink substances other than what they should be allowed to consume. Although both nern and Auspet's admin (I contacted both) thought that she did not mean any direct harm, that's not the same as saying they accept what she did.

Ok guys,

I think we all made our point.

Lets stay on topic now. All personal issues should taken to the general board (if at all !!).

This thread is now closed.

Peace PLEASE !.

Thank you
