I've been researching doing my cats vaccinations myself. I have found that vaccines are readily available for purchase from feed stores and online pet med stores. I think I would be comfortable doing this as I am trained as a medical assistant and have experience giving injections to people as well as drawing blood. The only downfall I can think o fis not having a record from a vet in the event of boarding etc. I am pretty sure that I still have to have the rabies vaccine done by a veterinarian. It will only cost me $30 to vaccinate 6 cats versus like $140 at the vet. I'm sure many people are too squeemish to do this, I used to be! Any experience??
Thanks,
Jenny

I have vaccinated both my dogs and cats myself for a couple years now. It is ALOT cheaper. It is not too hard to do. One bit of warning though, cats have thick skin. You have to really push the needle in there. It just kinda grossed me out a bit.

Where I live the vet does have to do the rabies vaccine. And about boarding, it depends on the kennel. One place I called wouldn't accept it, another place would if I brought in a receipt for the vaccines.

Something to consider:

If you ever have to board your cat they will require proof of vacination from a vet's office.
