My kitty is about a year and a half old and it seems that lately he throws up about once a week, and sometimes 2 or 3 times a week it sounds like he's trying to get up a hairball. I haven't tried to give him hairball medicine yet, would that help?

yes it probably would help if you think it's a hairball...I use Pounce hairball treats for my cats - I give them a couple of treats every few days.

there is a med called Laxatone. It works wonders on my cats.

You should try it. Its easy to give as well, you just rub about a dime size portion on his leg or paw or side, and they will naturally "lick" it off, and injest it.

He's probably trying to "hock up a hairball" but is having trouble. Most longer haired cats have that problem.

I have never tried using the hairball treats. Laxatone works great and so does Petromalt. They are the same thing just different brands. If you give that to him every few days or every week and he still has problems you might consider a hairball formula food. There is a good one made by Authority.
