I have 5 cats. All of them are fine with the litter box except my Himalayan. He will pee in the box, but chooses a hard floor (tile or wood) to poop on. He does this right next to the box. I have 4 boxes, with both scented and unscented litter. All are the clumping kind. What's going on???

Hello. Welcome to the site. It's good you have multiple litter boxes. How long has your cat been doing this? You may want to try getting one more litter box (1 for each cat) and try putting something simple like JonnyCat (Jeez, I forgot how they spell it). It's very inexpensive. Then fill that litter 3-4 inches deep. My cat does not like the scented litter. Also, make sure all of the litter boxes are cleaned after any cat uses it. I know that's a pain, but cats like their boxes nice and clean.

Also, check the site here as a lot of members can give you some good tips.

p.s. you may also want to take kitty to the vet to rule out any health problems.

You also might try putting a different kind of litter all together in one box. Maybe those pine chips or a brand called yesterdays news. They have a lot of alternative litters. Maybe your cat doesn't like to poop in scoopable for some reason.
