Hiya

Need a bit of advice all three of my cats have fleas, we have tried everything including stuff from the vet but we can't seem to shift them. The house has been vaccumed from top to bottom.
One of my cats has started to get really nasty infected bites so two questions really.
Anyone got any good tips for ridding yourself of fleas
and
Anyone suggest anything for my cat with the sores on her skin?

Cheers
Caitlyn

I have 3 cats and we had the worse flea problem this year ever! Two of my cats still have scabs due to allergy to fleas.
I have found a mirale product. It is called Para Clear Diatomaceous Earth. You must get food grade quality(not the stuff sold at supermarkets) to use on and around pets. It is a very find powder made of teeny tiny crystals of fossils. You can sprinkle it on your furniture, floor, in food cabinets and you apply it right to the cats fur and it kills the fleas in 12 hours. Keep them powered untill all the fleas are dead. It kills them by actually cutting them up with the crystals. Make sure you dont breathe in too much, let it settle on the furniture before comming back in the room.
You can find it at holistic pet stores, I just found this link, http://www.casadelchihuahua.com/diatomaceous_earth.htm
It is the first products that worked for me. We also used the Sargents flea tube stuff from Pet Smart that you put on their backs.
Good Luck

Hello,

CAPSTAR is good stuff but it only kills the fleas that are on the cat. It will not prevent reinfestation. Capstar is a tablet that works within 20 mins and all the fleas on the cats will drop off dead.

FRONTLINE or ADVANTAGE will help with the other fleas that continue to jump onto the cat. this MUST be applied monthly in the correct manner. It cannot be simply squeezed onto the cats neck, it must be applied to the SKIN and not the HAIR or it will not work.
If you have a serious problem, then FLEA BOMBS may be your only answer. You will need to evacuate the house, put the cats in day board at the clinic, take your family out for lunch and bomb the house.

Another trick my old Aunty told me to do: get a VERY good quality flea collar and place it INSIDE THE VACUUM BAG, as the fleas, larvae and eggs are sucked up into the bag, they are KILLED, rather than placed into the PERFECT enviroment to breed and just crawl out of the vacuum again.

Good Luck !
