I have a beautiful Russian Blue male cat who is only 6 years old and will not eat anything i offer. I took him to the vet last tue the 28th of oct and the vet couldnt find his bladder upon feeling him, he also had a temp of 105. I cant afford all the test that they would like to run and i am sure either he will die or i will be forced to put him down. They rehydrated him with fuild and gave me clavamox to give him. On thursday following the vets he began to eat again, but by saturday he stopped again. I have not seen him use the litter box or drink any water in that amouny of time. I am really worried about him and i am hoping that it is nothing contagious since i have 3 other cats. Does anybody have any suggestions? Please help this is my baby.

What did the vet suspect was wrong? I would keep him separated from the other cats just in case he is infectious. He needs to drink water. You might have to force feed him water. When my cat was really sick he wouldn't eat or drink I finally had to use a needleless syringe and drip water into his mouth slowly. It's essential that you cat get water, they can go without food for awhile but not water. If you have to force feed him water, put a little in his mouth and wait for him to swallow then repeat.

You can give him nutrical to give him his strength back. It's a vitamin paste you can get from the vet or at a pet store.

Try to put a little pedialyte in his water and definately some nutracal. Try anything and everything.
Some things that have worked for me are:
hills a/d
sophisticat turkey and giblets with garlic powder on top
Chicken baby food
If your cat likes milk try some formula mixed with nutrical.

Well if it is then the vets office I work for is doing some major damage
Raw garlic is bad for both cats and dogs. Even though it is used as a flea prevenitive in holistic treatments.
HOWEVER.....garlic powder is not harmful for them as the unprocessed garlic is.
You dont want to use it every day or in excessive amounts but when a kitty is not eating it is not harmful to use in small doses.

What about garlic supplements? I have these pill-like things that are brewer's yeast and garlic, that is supposed to help with fleas. Is that okay for cats?

I would think so. You just dont want to give them unprocessed, unaged garlic. That is what is so bad for them.
Brewers yeast and garlic is used in so many holistic treatments. Its the same thing as garlic powder.
Remember if you are ever hesitant about anything ask your vet.

Hi i found this site that might give you some help on what to do for you cat its very informative and has some great idea's on cats that wont eat upto cats that are finicky eaters...

I also found out that garlic should never be given more than twice a week as this is still toxic to the cats and dogs as it attacks the red blood cells and destroys them..

Hope this link gives you some ideas keep us posted of her progress and good luck...

Thanks for all the info but it cme a little to late. I had to put my young cat down on the 5th. He developed fulid in his lungs and was having a hard time breathing.. The vat was good and told me that is was 1 of three thing a-cancer b-kidney failure or c-predisposed condtion ( possible gentic). He's in a better place now and finally at rest.
