Hi, I am new here. I just need some advice. I have two cats ,brother and sister, who got along great. They always play, eat, sleep together. This all changed sunday. YOu see my cats were sitting around the dinner table. My husband lifted up his chair and when he put it down he got the cat under the chair. She didn't get injured i think she might of gotten her shim pinched. I mean it has been 3 days and there is no signs of pain..When this event occured she ran down stairs crying and the other cat followed as did my husband. than she ran up under the bed. Ever since this incident she has been fighting with the other cat. The first night was the worst. They got into two fights and the one cat (the one that was affected by the chair) sprayed and did number 2 during the fight. After the second incident i locked her up in the room. The next day i called the vet. He said she might think the other cat caused the event or she might not recognize him. He said to keep them seperated when I am not home. I do that. I also gave them a bath so they have similiar scents. Every day I open the door and the cat seems fine then a fe minutes later they are in a hissing and growling match. I am worried this will last forever and the relationship they had won't go back to normal. I am just looking for some advice. thanks, IP: Logged |

Hi I had a similar experience when my two were spayed. The vet put them in the same cage after they woke up and they hissed, growled etc and the vet explained that when they are in pain, they blame/take it out on each other. Cats also sometimes pee/defecate when they are scared or angry. My mom's cat peed everytime she saw another cat nearby (very agressive kitty) She would even attack our other cat as well as us. She would go completly insane and was inconsolable. She settles down after a day or two by herself and goes back to normal until another outdoor cat waltzed around the yard. She is a tiny yet scary cat sometimes! Give it time and keep an eye on them. Cats, like people have moods swings. I think some people make the mistake of assuming all animals are incapable of feeling emotion. Good luck! IP: Logged |

Hi, my husband and I have two cats that are brother and sister from the same litter who also ate together, slept together, etc. On the exact same Sunday my husband and I came home from the store and we think my husband accidently stepped on the females foot or tail and she left out a howl and ran downstairs with the male and my husband and I following. She has been agressively attacking the male. We had to take him to the Vets to have a wound on his arm fixed. You can imagine our amazement when we read your story. We are heartbroken. We have seperated them and after a couple of days brought them together. Everything would be ok for a few minutes and then it would start again. The Vet told us to keep them seperated for a full week before introducing them again. We were wondering how your two cats are getting along. We have had our cats since they were six weeks old and they are just a little over a year now. I would hate to have to choose! If you have any tips please let us know.
