I really think my cat is bipolar, no joke. One minute he loves you and is purring, the next he wants to rip your arm off! We got him as a kitten and he was so sweet and as he gets older (he is about 2 now) he gets worse. He has been to the vet for his shots so I am confused. Here is a funny story, one time he pinned my mother-in law in a corner she had to use a broom on him to get away, but now he loves her!! The people at the vet's office know him as the grumpy kitty! How embarrasing! Please help!!

Cats can have mental problems. I don't know about bi-polar but they can be scizophrenic (sp). You could ask your vet about trying some prozac and see if it helps your cat.

My cat runs into things all the time, I worry about her sometimes. She'll run headfirst into cabinets, furniture, walls ..

My cat is also bi-polar....she loves you one minute and them chews your hand like its a piece of meat. She has also chased my feet and chomped on them many times. I have questioned her having schizophrena before at the vets, but they explained that calicos tend to be nervous cats which lend to the bi-polar-schizo behaviour.

Guess all I can do is love her

I don't know if this has to do with anything, but I have heard that you can overstimulate a cat by petting them. I guess since a cat's sense of touch is very sensitive... petting a certain way or for a certain amount of time can get a cat to turn on you. I've heard that they don't know how to control themselves/how to react once they're over stimulated, so they will sort of attack.

My one cat loves belly rubs. But, if he gets one for too long... he freaks out and clutches your hand with his many sharp claws... and without warning.

Before I head about the possibility of overstimulation, I thought that my cats were crazy.

My male cat acts bipolar also, but it's okay because I'm bipolar too. So we get along great!
