I've discovered that my cat is peeing in various spots in my carpeted house. She probably has been doing this awhile. I didn't notice because the urine drained thru the carpet to the cement floor beneath, and it smelled very little, if at all.

The cat has been with me 2 1/2 years. Before that she lived with some neighbors who noticed she peed around their house. The cat and my neighbors disliked each other, so I thought her behavior was personal. However, even though she is happy with me, she still does this indoor peeing.

It's not obvious to me what the reason is for her peeing, except that she does it. (eg, no other cats in the house; her litter box is always clean; she's healthy; I use Nature's Miracle to clean the spots)

What do you think the problem is?

What should I do?

My cat peed all over our house when we first got her. We took her to the vet and she had crystals in her urine. It hurt her very much to pee and she wouldn't use the litterbox. She loved going behind our entertainment center, though. She meowed when she would pee in the wrong places because it hurt. (Does your cat seem to be in any pain?)

Treating the problem was very inexpensive and we put her on urinary health food (which is at any store that sells cat food.)

I don't know what your cat has, but it should go to the vet. The vet will probably be able to clear up the problem.

Good luck, I'd like to hear what happens.

Take her to the vet to make sure there are no serious problems. If it's urinary tract, then Wysong Uretic and canned food is a great solution. You can get this at most natural pet food stores. If she's associating the litter box with pain, then that could be a sure sign of UTI. If it's behavioral, Feliway products work great. They are a synthetic hormone designed after the positive hormone in a cat's cheek. (They rub this whenever they rub you). However, if the urine doesn't smell I can't imagine that it is spraying. Who knows though. If you end up getting the Feliway, get the one with the video and follow that exactly.
