I have four kittens about two months old. The mother recently stopped nursing them. Two of the babies are gobbling up canned kitten food but the two others have absolutely no interest in the food. We are putting the kittens and mother in a large cage every night to be sure that the two not eating canned food continue to get nourishment. Since the mother has no other choice once she is in the cage, she nurses them, but this is the only time. Any suggestions on how to get the other two kittens to start eating food? I've even put some in their mouths so they would get the taste. They swallow it and lick their mouths but that's it. Thank you!

Try some KMR or other brand or mothers milk replacement. KMR seems to be palatable and well tolerated. At first they might want to lap it up, or you can mix soft food in with it. You can gradually reduce the amount of KMR until they are just eating food. This has been very successful for me. I had two orphaned kittens and this worked well to wean them from the bottle. I also had a litter where the mom was sick and couldn't nurse, so I switched the kittens over to KMR and soft food.
