Will feeding a 3 month kitten adult cat food cause them to have urinary tract infection?

I doubt it. One of mine ate adult food for most of his kittenhood...no problems here. If possible though, kitten food would most likely be best for him at that age.

Kittens need more fat than big cats, so your kitten may not get enough nutrients on big cat food.

I don't know why you asked about feeding a kitten big cat food, but I will share one of my experiences in case it helps. I had big cats and kittens at the same time. I had too many cats to have set feeding times. So when the kittens were little I put the big cat food up to where they couldn't jump. This only lasted a little while. Once they could get the big cat food, I didn't have much choice. They had free access to the big cat food, but I would feed them kitten food in the morning and at night. Usually I mixed the Purina kitten chow dry food with Iams soft kitten food. This made it especially yummy, so they filled up on kitten food and hardly at the big cat food. Once they got older, I just gave them dry kitten food, and they still filled up on it. In my kitten experience for dry food they like Purina kitten chow. It seems to be the most palatable and the easiest for them to eat. If you still have to feed the kitten big cat food and he needs more nutrients, you could give him nutri-cal as a supplement.

Kitten food is best for kittens because it is higher in protien. Thats important for kittens because they are growing.

Another option is an "all life stages" food such as Innova which would be suitable for both adults and kittens. I found it very difficult to feed all of mine seperately so this food worked out well in that situation and was okayed by my vet.
