Hi

My cat has asthsma and has been living with it for about 7 years now. The vet believed it started with a respiratory infection due to the Christmas tree (we now use fake trees). Anyways, shes been living on bronco-dialators and prednisone ever since, with only the occasional asthma attack, usually in the Spring orwhen she was in the vacinity of perfumed products. The attacks would last for weeks at a time, and she wouldn't eat/hardly walk and lose quite a bit of weight. I am now very happy to say she has gone off the bronco-dialators completly and is down to 1 prednisone pill a week (broken into two pieces taken every 3 days).

I don't know if you tried the above methods but there is also face mask made for cats for puffers. I don't know if you have ever had asthma but it isn't very comfortable and can be downright frightening. At least humans can control the urge to panic (somewhat) and have inhalers that can fix the immediate problem. You my want to consult another vet to see what else is out there to help fix your cats immediate symptoms to keep him comfortable and then find a way to control it over the long haul.

Good luck.

my cat has the exact same problem, horrible discharge (green) sneezing fits. The Dr put her on prednizone and antihistamine, which which didnt help. His allergies are seasonal so in spring it is horrible, it just sarted two years ago. Antiobiotics only help if is a bacterial problem. I did vist a holistic vet this spring who put Midas on a different food and homeopathic remedies, I am hoping it helps wont know until next spring. If you cant find alternatives I would ask your vet about the prednizone/antihistamine route.
