Friday we take my girlfriends cat Morris back to the Vet. Last Friday the Vet said he had mouth cancer (tumor) and should be put down. I decided to wait as I felt this Vet didn't know what it was since he appeared guessing as he didn't take any blood work or other test to make sure what it was on his lower lip. He told us to clean it twice a day and put an ointment (Animax) he gave us to put on twice a day. I have been concerned about this Animax ointment becasue it says not to ingest and after I put this on Morris' lip he starts licking like crazy and seems to enjoy it's taste. I don't see how this stuff would do any good since he licks it as soon as I put it on. Well, anyway Morris has gotten an extra boost of energy since Friday and the suppose tumor has gone down. There is one area that appears to be where Morris had bitten down on as it is a little black but it too is getting it's color back. Right now it is red in color with no mean looking areas on his lip. He still eats good and uses the litter box well. He jumps up on my lap jumps down on the floor and starts playing with my toes. Does this sound like a cat with cancer or mouth tumor cancer if this swelling is going down with this extra boost of energy? Mac IP: Logged |

Mac- I'm so happy to hear that Morris is feeling better. Are you taking him back to the vet who suggested putting him to sleep without even running any tests? I would seek a second opinion or at least ask the vet to run some tests. I just can't beleive that a vet would suggest something like that without any tests. I'm not a vet but from my experiences, Morris does not sound like a cat who is ready to be put down. Good luck and please let us know how you and Morris make out Friday. IP: Logged |

It's good that he's doing better. I would also seek a second opinion. I don't know that I'd decide to be so drastic to put my cat down without even a blood test. I'm surprised that it was suggested to you guys without tests. I hope the cat continues getting better! IP: Logged |
