Recently my 11 year old (chubby and gorgeous) cat has been getting matted fur.
I dont mean one or two sections, I'm talking 10 or so. There is NO WAY you could bathe this cat....he's the meanest tempered cat on the planet when you are doing something he doesnt like. Last time I took him to the vet for his needles, the vet wouldnt even examine him, he was like a mad lion.
IDEAS ANYONE????

Have you tried brushing the cat? My Shadow (25 pounds) had developed clumps in his hair on his back near the tail. I found brushing solved the problem and made his coat look beautiful!

There is a bag, and a "cage" unit that Jeffers Vet Supply sells for cats like this. It allows you to bathe them with no harm to either cat or you. Or, you could get that Luster Bath stuff and wipe it on all over, or use dry shampoo, or shave every so often.
The more you work with an animal and DON'T GIVE IN, and don't handle it roughly in the least bit, it becomes more manageable.
There is a drug called acepromazine, often used to calm an animal, can be bought from your vet. Best wishes.
