Grossed Out I have had a "rescued" male cat since 1997 when I brought him home (neutered)where he had to live with two other resident cats. He is a cuddler and a talker. Approx.9 months ago, two more cats moved in. Fairly recently he has started walking into rooms where you are and spraying right in front of you on a wall and/or possessions. Another charming habit is gorging himself and then throwing up. I'm thinking of having him put down - unless of course there is some magic med out there that will stop this disgusting behaviour. Any comments anyone??????
Lucy Why not get him checked out by a vet very soon? - there could be a physical problem. (If it turns out to be anxiety related, "feliway" was really helpful when my cat was spraying - it's a synthetic cat hormone you get from vets & spray where your cat sprays & it makes them feel more cheerful - smells for them like when they rub their faces on things & they won't spray there then. Also, when you clean up the spray just use water, not soap, as the smell of detergent attracts them to spray again) Good luck!

I think that considering putting down this kitty is premature - don't jump to such a drastic solution just yet. Be sure to take him to the vet and make sure there isn't any physical problems occuring, as this is quite likely. If after a thorough investigation he does not appear to be ill, follow through on other lines of dealing with this that would allow your kitty to remain alive and you to maintain your sanity.
I don't think this is an issue which requires or demands that you put down your cat. Doing so would be cheating this little creature of his fair chance at a good life.
Sharon Hi I really think that putting your cat is NOT AN ACTION you should take. Have you considered having an Animal Communicator such as myself to 'talk with your cat' to see what the problems is.
I would be more than happy to offer my services FOR FREE to help your cat. You can contact me at crystaldeva6@aol.com. I will need a picture of the cat if possible if not I will need a FULL description of your cat along with its name and age, colour ect.
I hope you take this offer and we can sort out your cat problem without you having to take what is clearly a HUGE mistake in having her put down.

fleafly Spraying is almost always a behavioral issue, and not a reason to put down a cat. Once you figure out the reason for the spraying you can fix the problem. It is probably jealousy or resentment that you brought home new cats. If you cant fix the problem by paying more attention to the one who is spraying try a communicator. Even if it costs you, it will be about the same as the cost to put a cat down and a lot more humane.
HarmonBrody I have a neutered cat who matches this behavior almost exactly. I brought him home from a country home where my mother had died to my house to my home . I have three cats
and a dog. He began spraying and fighting and most recently howling.
My wife says it is because he smells a female in the area. All our other cats are older males. He doesn't go out and is neutered so how come he is spraying and why is he howling for females ?
