lee manciniowner of cat won't do anything cat has had an open wound in ear for 5 weeks,,,i think it was an absess to begin with ...but it will not heal...i keep on cleaning it just keeps on draining and bleeding...does the cat need some antibiotics and what kind?
PaulineHope you've been cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide half and half with water, as full strength can cause skin tissue to deteriorate as well. Saline solution is another wonderful cleaner for wounds.
As for antibiotics, a broad spectrum one is needed. I would see a vet, as you say it keeps draining and bleeding, not so great a situation. Cat could end up with major sepsis. Good luck.
CindyClauvlox is another antibiotic that is avaiable. Always used with cats with absesses. How far is wound? it might need a drain? Cleaning it might not complety rid the affection away. I myself would prefer salty water as it gently and more natural way of cleaning it.. By the way how is absesses affecting the cats behaviour??

PaulineClavamox is trade name for amoxicillin, a vet can prescribe only.
