ChristyMy cat has started to soil around the house for no apparent reason.
First of all, he has NEVER done it before in his one year of life, not even as a kitten.

He has a clean kitty litter, with the same brand litter he has always had, which happens to be the most expensive. It is in the same location it always has been.

He eats the most expensive dry food, which he always has, also very good quality. It is what he has always eaten and he likes it very much... He always has fresh clean water.

He started doing it about a week and a half ago, and has done it like every 2nd day. There is no pattern as to when, or where he does it. He has done it on a beanbag, chair, floor, next to his food and in different rooms.

There is definately nothing physically wrong with him, he looks and acts normal. None of his circumstances have changed, his life is the same. Furthermore, he has had diarrhoea before and always used the little. Once we went away for a week leaving the cat in anothers care... they didn't change the kitty little once or clean it out in that whole week. He had diarrhoea the whole week after being fed the wrong food. He STILL didn't go on the floor even after being put through that.

Finally, he is an indoor cat. So I ask you, what the hell is going on? I will be suprised if anyone can help. Remember, there is definately nothing physically wrong with him, his kitty litter is at worst 10s away from anywhere in the house.

PaulineAnytime an animal behaves that way, it may be an indication of stress, addition of another kitty, human in the house, or is getting less attention than usual. If illness, usually a urinary infection actually. If he is a neutered male especially. And, most often in winter months, why? Cause they drink less often, less therefore than the normal water consumption, which concentrates the urine as well. I would schedule a vet appt, to rule out any infection first. Good luck.
