Joe Hi, I was wondering if some one can help me. Im so woried about my cat, I live so far away from any vet. She is about two years old and she has these two wounds, one on her upper left side of the nose about 1 cm away from her left eye and the other on the inside of her ear on the outer flap. The one on her nose first started with a swolen, it got as big as the size of a marble then it just burst open this is after a few weeks of swalon and I think the hole goes through her nose, the thing is her left side of the nostril is totaly blocked and she can only breath through her right side of the nostril. The one in the ear I just recently found out about, the shape of the wound is round and is like a base of a mountain with 1 mm in height and on top its whitish pink and constantly bleeding. I try to clean those wounds with water and anti bacterial liquids but it dosen't seem to have any effect, and on top of that I can't bare to see her and hear her suffer every time I try to clean her wounds. so please if some one can help me and give me some advice as to what I should do I thank you so very much.
Rachel Sounds just like a snake bite, which my cat had once. so if anyone else has a cat with similar wounds.... and pain and disorientation- seek medical attention. Cats tend to play with snakes like toys, and when snakes are angry they do not merely "strike and run" as they usually do, but will hold on and pump their venom into their victim- sometimes all of it. A cats small body cant take much venom. Beware all those with indoor/outdoor or outdoor cats.
Rick Dude, take the damn thing to the vet. If ur gonna have the animal then u had better take care of it. So make the drive, ur cat will thank u for it.
Pauline Sounds like an infection that abcessed, then burst, common occurrence. It's an infected area that needs to be cleansed several times daily, with saline solution. It can be bought at a pharmacy. Possibly the application of a triple antibiotic cream on it can be some help. However, this may not be enough to rid the bacteria/microorganism causing this. The cat needs an antibiotic to work from inside out, or this abcess just may close again, build up on infectious fluid, and burst again and again, cyclic. Your cat just may die from it if it continues and sepsis occurs, a generalized blood infection.
One thing is certain, it is not comfortable, and bacteria is being spread wherever he shook his head and it spurted out. So, this is a situation that necessitates a drive to the vet to treat this cat. It will involve an office call fee, and antibiotic for sure. If you love this cat, which loves you and trusts you, that love will guide your decision. Best wishes.
