Must-Have Know-How On Your Dogs Meal-Times
One of the best parts of the day for any dog is their mealtimes.
Most adult dogs are fed twice every day (in the morning and evening) but large breeds may receive their food in one meal each day.
The most important thing is to have a routine. Your dog will appreciate a routine, and he may even come to find you if you are late with his food!
Your dog will soon learn how to sit and wait so you can place his food bowl on the floor. It may initially help to reinforce your verbal command with a hand signal to reinforce what you are saying.
Dogs will usually eat greedily, but there can be situations where they may express less enthusiasm about their food. This can be an obvious indication that your pet is unwell.
It may be a reflection of a health problem, or a specific dental problem, which may be indicated by the dog trying to eat gingerly to avoid the pain.
It could be (especially with a shy dog) that the room is too noisy or busy. Maybe there are too many people around which is making your dog uncomfortable.
Try leaving him on his own to see if this will solve the situation.
Dogs don't tend to be as picky about their food as cats can be sometimes.
Smaller breeds in particular may not take to the change of their diet willingly. If they are expected to eat dry foods compared with canned or fresh-cooked foods, they may be more reluctant as the latter is often far more appealing to your pet.
Establishing a routine.
As your puppy grows up, the number of meals which he gets will need to be reduced and must always go through the same routine from the start, so he'll quickly learn what is expected.
This routine should be the same at every mealtime, regardless of who feeds him.
Mealtimes are also an ideal time to teach your dog basic obedience training. The reward for sitting and waiting for food.
Call him clearly by his name. This helps him to learn its name, and has an advantage of encouraging him to come to you when his name is called in future.
Prepare the food before calling your puppy, so that he doesn't have to wait, as this can cause him to misbehave and start whining.
Barking and whining should be ignored, as he may believe it has attracted your attention, and has been fed as a result of its vocalisations.
Do not place the food bowl down immediately, instruct him to sit first. This can help you to keep control and avoid aggressive behaviour.
Repeat the instruction 'sit', while the dog sits waiting for its food, before placing its bowl down.
If your dog fails to sit, do not take his food away. Instead, just put him into sit posture whilst repeating the phrase 'sit' at the same time. Then place the food down on the floor.
He will soon learn what is expected every mealtime.

Mommy, Can I Keep That Stray Dog?
How many times have you seen this situation where a child comes through the door with a dog in tow? It looks skinny and skittish and is in need of a good meal and a bath. The child is looking with big eyes imploring, pleading, and desperately wanting a yes.
Social Robotic Dogs in Kennels
Have you ever been to a dog kennel and listen to all the noise of the dog's barking, yapping and howling? The often do not seem like happy campers. Maybe they are, who knows; what I do know is if I were a dog I would not want to be put in a cage. Dogs have four feet and paws for traction, they are built to run and jump, explore and dig. Sticking them on a concrete floor in a cage, well that is not my idea of a good time. So, here is a through. We introduce good looking, in dog terms; social robotic dogs to each kennel.

Why Exotic Pets Should Not Be Banned
We all know how special interest groups can blow things out of proportion ? like the nonexistent "Exotic Pet Crisis." If you listened to some animal rights groups, you'd think keeping exotic pets is cruel, dangerous, and even bordering on treason! Before you buy that agenda, consider that a junior high student once made a convincing case for banning dihydrogen monoxide: colorless, odorless, and tasteless, it kills thousands of people every year.
Improve Your Dogs Health With a Natural Diet
It goes without saying that your dog needs suitable nutrition to remain healthy. Vets and pet food manufacturers often have differing views on appropriate nutrition for your dog. Although commercial pet food manufacturers are motivated in large part by profits, commercially prepared foods are routinely recommended as part of an adequate, or good, diet for your dog. Sometimes your vet or dog breeder may approve of commercially prepared foods as your dog's sole diet. Many experts, however, tend to prefer a largely natural diet which for dogs is invariably comprised of meat and bones. Raw is preferable to cooked, as some of the minerals are definitely lost in the cooking process.
Preparing for Your New Pet

Telepathic Communication With Animals
Animal Communication, or telepathy with animals, is as common an occurrence in some people's lives as it is an oddity in the lives of others. Telepathy is an energetic exchange between two sentient beings for the purpose of communication. Combined with body language and sometimes vocalizations, animals use this form of communication among themselves and even across species.

A Guide to Successful Obedience Training
Showing off your dog in front of friends and family is something that I personally love to do. Having an obedient, happy slab of lab is like having an obedient happy child. Have you ever been in a supermarket only to come across a screaming baby and a blushing parent? I know I have, and my first reaction is to get as far away from the disturbing scene as possible. I have also been in the undesirable situation of being in public with an unobedient dog and I can say, I feel the pain of the frantic parent!

5 Tips For Choosing the Best Vet For Your Dog
Find a vet, if possible, who specializes in small animals (as opposed to one who treats large and small ? like horses, cows, cats and dogs.) Your community may only have vets that do a little bit of everything ? and there's nothing wrong with that, if that's all that's available, but I'll remind you ? you usually go to a specialist for your health issues, don't you?

The Boxer Dog's history could be traced back to feudal Germany, where it was a small hunting dog that could tenaciously hold onto a bull, boar, or bear till the master arrived. It was also a utility dog for peasants and shop owners, and even a performing dog in circus. The Boxer Dogs as we know it today is a bigger breed ? a mixture of the German Boxer with a taller, more elegant English import. The era of this modern Boxer began in the 1880s and became really popular in the United States in the late 1930s-1940s. Handsome dog: Within the canine world, Boxer Dogs are medium-sized dog standing at 21 to 25 inches at the shoulder for a full-grown female, and weighs some 50 to 65 pounds. The male can be taller and 15 pounds heavier. It has a striking good look with chiseled head, square jaw and muscled body that make for a very handsome silhouette. The ears are cropped and erect that enhance its hearing ? the Boxer most developed sense. It is always alert and vigilant, an instinctive guard dog. The shortened muzzle makes hot and humid weather uncomfortable for the Boxer Dogs. The coat is short, hard and smooth, and possesses a natural sheen that can be enhanced with rubdowns with a chamois cloth (especially after a bath). The short coat cannot protect him well from extreme elements of the weather and thus Boxer Dogs should definitely not be kept outdoors. It is a housedog, sensitive to temperature extremes, does not enjoy the draft, summer heat or cold. Boxer Dogs come in attractive basic colors of fawn and brindle. The fawn varies from a tawny tan to an especially beautiful stag red. The brindle (clearly defined black stripes on a fawn background) can be sparse, in between or dense. A beauty standard for Boxer Dogs is that their white markings or "flash" should add to their look and may not cover more than one-third of the entire body. Some predominantly or all-white puppies (known as "check") may be born in a litter. In the US, however, the American Boxer Club members are pledged not to register, sell or use these "whites" for breeding so as to retain the beauty of the true fawn and brindle colors in the breed. Personality-wise, Boxer is a cool dog that will not bark without cause. Its expressive face ? the furrowed forehead and dark, soulful eyes - is a charming quality that sets the Boxer apart from other breeds. It can mimic the moods of its master and adopting one could bring you 9 to 11 years of joyful companionship. In exceptional cases the Boxer can live up to 15 years. Boxer Dogs As Pet Pet Boxer Dogs, although low-maintenance, require your consistent attention, exercise, human interaction, consistent obedience training and lots of love. You cannot leave them to their own design for too long or they get lonely, bored and into trouble. Being a big and strong dog as well as a highly intelligent one, Boxer Dogs need both physical and mental stimulations to keep them even-tempered and dignified while still keeping their impish spirit and fearless courage in tact. All the best!!! Warm regards,
