Message Body:
Hi! New to forum! Thought I might offer a few suggestions;
Firstly, who is injecting the hock, with what and why? There are a lot of different problems that can occur within the hock from fluid loss to joint strain. Some problems thought to be in the hock are also actually higher up in the stifle.

You need to be VERY sure of what you are doing before injecting a substance into any joint area as it is very easy to cause permanent & irreperable damage. However, if a vet has suggested this, and you have a second opinion aloing with an x-ray or ultra sound to justify it, then this may be the only treatment. Is this the only for of treatment, or have you tried other medication? It is a very drastic thing to do so I hope this has been VERY carefully considered.

Hope some of this is helpful. FYI, I am a vet nurse with equine medicine training.

Good luck!
