Hi,

My Lady Bea is a 9-10 year old rescued basset hound. If overcoming
the obstacle of finding a new home wasn't enough, she was diagnosed
with Mast Cell Cancer late last May. In the beginning of June, she
had her tumor removed, and somehow, by what I believe to be the grace
of God, clear margins were obtained. Her tumor was graded 2, however
based on her positive prognosis, we opted against chemp. Instead, we
made some diet changes, and did some research and added several
suppliments to a home cooked diet. I thank God every day I get with
her, and am happy to say that April 1st began her 11th cancer-free
month. Along the way there have been some new lumps and bumps-my
stomach dropping each time I took her to the vet-waiting to here
those awful words "the cancer has returned", and each time crying
with joy when I learned not one of those new lumps was cancer-they
were benign sebacious cysts. I hope my good luck will continue, and
Bea's life with us is truly just beginning.

I am involved with ABC Basset Rescue in Upstate NY, and that is how
all 3 of my hounds came to me. We have our main fundraiser,
Purplewaddle 2002, coming up. One of the highlights is that a hound
will be crowned Purple Prince & Purple Princess to represent ABC
throughout the year. It is a great honor. My Bea was nominated for
Purple Princess, and the way they are being selected is through
voting. I was wondering if you all could take just a moment and visit
the following link:

And vote for my Lady Bea. In order for your vote to count, you must
pick both a Prince & Princess. Lady Bea's choice for Prince is
Sidney. He is an older hound, like her, who has had a rough life. Bea
was found as a stray wandering through the streets of NYC, and pulled
from the shelter on what was to be the last day of her life. She came
to me as a foster, and ended up being my foster failure. As soon as
she walked into my home and plunked down on my couch pillows, I knew
she was home. She is not only a survivor of the streets of NYC, but
so far a cancer survivor as well. It is something I really think she
deserves, and would mean a lot to our family if she won.

And, turns out, if she is selected-the day she is crowned, May 11th,
would mark almost a year to the day she was first diagosed with
cancer. It will almost mark a year that she has been cancer free.
What a great way that would be to celebrate!

So if you guys would take a moment to vote, and pass it on to your
family and friends to vote (it only takes about half a minute!) it
would mean a lot to our family & to Lady Bea.

Thank you for your time and belly rubs to all the furkids out there!

Lisa, Arnold, Lady Bea, Duchess, Lynx & Neber
