Message subject : Kitten Question - Kinda Urgent...

Message Body:
Hi... I could really use some advice. My girlfriend and I were pondering getting a second cat (our current baby is 2 now, and always looking for a playmate... even when she and I are too busy to play as much as he'd like). I'd been recommended years ago when growing up that a second cat (if the first is male) should be female, and luckily - my girlfriend's father's cat (who is not spayed... I know, we've had the talk...) happened to get pregnant and give birth to 2 beautiful little kittens... both of whom appear to be girls. I have a couple questions, though...

1 - How can you tell for sure what the gender of a baby kitten is? Since male genitals are not always visible - it's hard to be sure.

2 - The one kitten my girlfriend has taken to seems to be a little bow-legged. Now, what I need to find out is if this is common, and cats will grow out of it. Her (?) rear legs seem a little splayed, and it could be just due to lack of strength yet... but I'm concerned about whether we might adopt this kitten only to find we don't have sufficient time or finances to care for it as it needs. At the same time, I'd hate to see it go homeless.

Please... I am in DESPERATE need of some information here... we'd really like a friend for my first baby, but I don't want one we'll inadvertantly neglect.

Any help appreciated,
Thanks -- Scott
